About me

Marianne Barber  BA, DipLib, Diploma in Counselling Psychology, MBACP

I am an experienced bereavement counsellor, having worked for nearly three years at the West Cheshire Bereavement Service provided by the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, as well as seeing clients privately.  I am a mature, qualified counsellor  and a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), based in Chester.

My special interest is in working with older clients. I am a member of the BACP Older People Expert Reference Group.

I have a fair amount of life experience, including retirement, bereavement and becoming a grandparent (roughly in that order!)  My background before training as a counsellor was in the corporate/academic sector and I am well-versed in the culture and constraints of working in this environment.

My counselling room for private clients is in Chester, but in circumstances where an older client is unable to travel I also visit residential/retirement homes, within a reasonable distance (mileage costs may apply.)
